Open Source
The Open Source is getting stronger year by year. Lets now quickly round of the things that is going to be a major look out for open source in the year 2013.

10) Gaming:

Last year Valve announced their gaming platform for linux and it was well received. Now in the year 2013 we could expect more from the gaming community for the Linux.

 09) Ubuntu Desktop:

Moving to the unity made a lot of fans for Ubuntu Desktop. In 2012 the LTS of Ubuntu Precise Pangolin was released and its a major sucess for the Canonical. Ever since the adaptation of the Unity and the easier desktop access makes the growing popularity for the Ubuntu desktop among the desktop users.  Hence Ubuntu Desktop will be in our list for open source in 2013.

08) Android:

Android had a worldwide smartphone market share of 75% during the third quarter of 2012,with 500 million devices activated in total and 1.3 million activations per day. The operating system's success has made it a target for patent litigation as part of the so-called "smartphone wars" between technology companies. The Android is growing stronger despite of the strong competition from the IPhone.

07) Economy of Linux:

The market of linux is growing stronger and in the coming year 2013 the revenue of Linux is expected to exceed $1.2 Billion.

06) Ubuntu Tablet:

The arrival of Ubuntu Tablet is expected to be happen in 2013. The Ubuntu Tablet Operating Sytem has already been tested in Google Nexus 7.

05) Infrastructure:

Open source will definitely dominate the world in the 2013 with its infrastructure layer.

04) Open Source Developers:

What could be the future of Open Source without its developers. With the features and the functionality of the Open Source is growing, its developer base is also growing strongly.

03) Firefox OS:

Firefox has a huge fan following base with the announcement of Firefox OS for mobile, the expectation has gone high since then. One of the key feature behind this expectation is that the  project is strictly based on Mozilla’s HTML5 and open web standards. Also the application running in the OS will be HTML5. Firefox OS is expected to be introduced in the 2013.

02) Ubuntu Mobile:

Even the Firefox OS has high expectation among the Mobile User what will be the expectation for the Ubuntu Mobile OS. The Ubuntu Mobile will bring the whole power of Mobile computing to the SmartPhones. It is expected to arrive at  2013. I have already posted about this in the TechKiller Blog. You can read it here.

01) Open Source VS Closed Source Wars:

Yes of course what could be at the no 1, the wars between Open Source and Closed Source. With the rapid increase in the Android and Linux desktop becoming an big concern for Windows and Apple. If this is the case in the Operating System, in the web development open source leads in the field ahead of the closed source. We can expect some good competition from both the open source and closed source.
